The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bayelsa State, has released the report of the screening exercise conducted for aspirants seeking to contest the 2027 Senatorial, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly primaries of the party.
According to the report submitted by the Screening Panel Chairman, Barr. Okpukpu Jerry Igbakuro, and Secretary, Pipa Dimie Patience, a total of thirty-eight (38) aspirants participated in the exercise held in Yenagoa on May 13, 2026.

The panel cleared three Senatorial aspirants, six House of Representatives aspirants, and twenty-eight State House of Assembly aspirants to contest the forthcoming primaries.
One House of Representatives aspirant who was absent on health grounds formally requested a waiver, which the committee recommended that the request should be forwarded to the National Working Committee (NWC) for consideration.

The Bayelsa PDP describes the exercise as peaceful, transparent, and credible, commending members of the screening panel, aspirants, and stakeholders for their cooperation and orderly conduct throughout the process.

The State Chairman of the party, Hon. Barr. Alabh George Turnah, MON, reaffirms the party’s commitment to fairness, internal democracy, and a level playing field for all aspirants ahead of the primaries and the 2027 general elections.
