The Gbarain Youths Federation has issued a public disclaimer debunking reports of an alleged kidnapping incident said to have occurred in Okolobiri in the early hours of Friday, June 5, 2026.
In a statement released by the group’s Public Relations Office, the Federation said it immediately launched verification efforts after the report began circulating, describing the incident as a false alarm.
According to the statement, the Unit Public Relations Officer of Okolobiri Community confirmed that the initial information stemmed from rumours alleging a kidnapping at an unverified school in the area.
Further checks, including direct contact with representatives of Polaku community, reportedly confirmed that no such incident occurred. A community representative and teacher in Polaku also verified with local schools that there was no record of any kidnapping or security breach.
The Federation therefore urged members of the public to disregard the circulating claims, stressing that both Okolobiri and Polaku communities remain peaceful and free of any such incident.
Residents were further advised to always verify sensitive security-related information before sharing it, to avoid unnecessary panic or misinformation within the area.
The statement was signed by Miss Dipamoere A. Seighotei, Public Relations Officer of the Gbarain Youths Federation, who commended residents for their vigilance and cooperation in maintaining community peace.
