Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, today joined family members, friends and well-wishers at the 70th birthday thanksgiving of Madam Ebidei Kumokou at the Greater Evangelism World Crusade, Amarata Church 1 in Yenagoa.

Governor Diri, who attended the thanksgiving service along with his wives, Dr. (Mrs.) Gloria Diri and Justice (Mrs.) Patience Ama Diri, acknowledged the support and care received from the celebrant while staying with the family back in Port Harcourt many years ago.

Madam Ebidei Kumokou, is the wife of the Governor’s elder cousin, Chief Isaac Kumokou.

Gov. Diri said: “The septuagenarian, who at some point in my life’s journey catered to my well-being when I stayed in their home in Port Harcourt, is a woman of humility, sacrifice and unwavering commitment to her family and community.”

“My attendance at the thanksgiving service underscores my deep appreciation and respect for the celebrant. My family and I celebrate this significant milestone in the life of Madam Ebidei Kumokou, who is the wife of my elder cousin, Chief Isaac Kumokou.”

“I am not particularly a birthday person. I hardly ever celebrate even my own birthday. But there are milestones that cannot be ignored. Seventy years is one of such milestones.

“Looking back at all she has been to us as a family, there was no way I could have been absent from this celebration.

“Mrs. Kumokou is a mother, a sister and a caring wife. She looked after my welfare with humility and selflessness. Today, we thank God for preserving her life to witness this remarkable age, and we pray that He will continue to grant her more years in good health and fulfilment.

“On behalf of my family and our community, I pray for God’s continued blessings upon the celebrant and that her life would continue to fulfil God’s purpose.”
