…Gov. Approves Water, Light & the extension of Yenagoa/Oporomor Road to include other neighboring communities.
Public affairs analyst and convener of the Progressive Prosperity Youths Coalition (PPYC) Barr. Ayebakuro Igbeta, PhD, has commended the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State His Excellency Sen. Douye Diri for providing what he described as the best era of development yet in Bayelsa state.
Igbeta’s comments come as former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Prof. Yemi Osinbajo GCON, was led by the Governor to commission landmark projects such as the Oxbowlake/Agbura/Otuoke road, the Oporomor referral hospital amongst others, in an interview with newsmen shortly after the grand reception organized by the grateful people of Southern-Ijaw, Igbeta recounted that back in February 2022 he had accompanied his late boss Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo alongside several other dignitaries led by the Prof. Osinbajo (then as Vice President) to the ground breaking ceremony of the Oporomor bride, which then seemed near impossible or too ambitious for a state government to undertake, but to the glory of God it stands to Diri’s credit today that he did not only complete this project but did that within record time while simultaneously extending the road to Osokoama, Otuan and other adjourning communities.
“In Bayelsa there is no one else deserving of the title of Owopeleowei -1 of Ijaw nation, more than His Excellency the Governor, Diri has so passionately invested in the project of opening up Bayelsa’s interland and interconnectivity that for the first time more than 70 percent of our communities have access to the capital, boosting trade, communication, Rural/Urban migration and inter-city connectivity like never before. Most important is the fact that Diri is surmounting the hardest of the challenges by tackling them head on, he is doing the hardest and most scary jobs, like the now completed 630meter Oporomor bridge, the completed Polako/Sabagria link road and bridge, the very many link roads like the Igbedi road, the Onopa/Gbarain bypass Roads, the Oxbowlake/Agbura road, and top of the list the Nembe/Brass road which no doubt is about the most daring project since the creation of Bayelsa State and would take only a daredevil like Diri to conceive, plan, and execute, simply for the livelihood of his people” Igbeta is quoted in part.
Barr. Ayebakuro Igbeta, Ph.D who is also the Secretary General of the Bayelsa state Centre for Youths Development expressed delight that he at least saw these projects come to live in his very eyes as this developmental insight and zeal is what endeared the government to youths like himself who supported the Diri and Prosperity project from its wee days, through loyalty to the late Deputy Governor and to the Prosperity architecture.
Speaking further, Igbeta called on the people of the areas where various projects are located to guard them jealousy, own and protect them from vandals and saboteurs as that is the only part the people can play to encourage government and prevent the wastage of Public funds.
He went on to thank His Excellency the Governor, His Deputy Pst,Dr. Peretubo Peter Akpe for their large and people oriented heart, and for the political will to direct public funds to where it is actually needed, as the people of Bayelsa patiently wait with enthusiasm the connection of Oporomor and it’s adjourning communities to the recently commissioned gas turbine and the extension of the road beyond all the way to Ukubie, as promised by the performing Miracle Governor.
