The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed that Senator Olamilekan Solomon, popularly known as Yayi, remains its unanimously endorsed governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The party made this clarification following what it described as misleading reports circulating after its recent caucus meeting held in Abeokuta. It insisted that its position was clear and had not changed.

In a statement released on Tuesday by the State Publicity Secretary, Nuberu Olufemi, the APC expressed concern over what it called “distorted narratives” emerging from the meeting. The party accused some media platforms of misrepresenting the outcome of its deliberations.

Olufemi stated that the reports being circulated were not only inaccurate but also dangerous, as they could mislead party members and the public. He emphasized that the resolutions reached at the caucus meeting were straightforward and unanimously agreed upon.

According to the statement, the APC caucus endorsed Senator Olamilekan Solomon without dissent as its governorship candidate for the 2027 elections. The party described the decision as both unanimous and consensual, stressing that there was no division among its leadership.

The APC also reiterated its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election. It confirmed that the caucus reaffirmed an earlier endorsement of Tinubu and pledged to mobilize strong electoral backing for him in Ogun State.

The statement underscored that these decisions were the only official outcomes of the meeting. It warned that any claims suggesting otherwise should be treated as false and disregarded.

“For the avoidance of doubt and in the interest of clarity, the party reiterates its official position,” the statement said, emphasizing that both endorsements reflected the collective will of the caucus.

The party further urged its members and the general public to rely only on information released through its official communication channels. It cautioned against believing unverified reports, which it described as deliberate attempts to create confusion.

Olufemi added that the APC leadership in Ogun State remains united and focused on its political objectives ahead of the 2027 elections. He noted that the party’s internal processes were conducted transparently and in line with its established guidelines.

The APC maintained that the endorsement of Senator Solomon reflects confidence in his leadership and political experience. It also suggested that the early decision positions the party for strategic preparation ahead of the election cycle.

Reaffirming its stance, the party concluded that there was no ambiguity in its resolutions and dismissed all contrary interpretations as baseless fabrications.
