The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), the apex socio-political organization of Nigeria’s South-South region, has described the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) as a rapidly growing political platform that is gaining national relevance and attracting support across the country.

PANDEF made the remarks during a courtesy visit to Senator Seriake Dickson, National Leader of the NDC and former Governor of Bayelsa State, in Abuja.

Speaking during the visit, PANDEF National Chairman, Ambassador Godknows Igali, commended Dickson for his role in establishing and developing the party, which he said has quickly emerged as a notable force in Nigeria’s political landscape.

According to Igali, the NDC’s growth has contributed positively to democratic participation and political engagement in the country.

“PANDEF is engaging with leaders of various political parties on issues relating to the Niger Delta and the country at large,” Igali said.

“We had a fruitful discussion and appreciate the fact that the NDC has become a leading national movement that is attracting widespread interest across the country.”

The PANDEF chairman explained that the visit formed part of the organization’s ongoing consultations with political parties, leaders, and stakeholders nationwide. He said the forum remains committed to dialogue and collaboration on issues affecting both the Niger Delta region and Nigeria as a whole.

Igali noted that PANDEF has been holding discussions with various political organizations as part of broader efforts to promote peace, development, equity, and national progress.

“We have met with several other party leaders; some have visited us, while we have visited others. We will continue to contribute our quota toward making Nigeria a better place,” he stated.

The PANDEF leader also emphasized the importance of cooperation among political parties, regional groups, and national institutions in addressing the country’s challenges and improving the welfare of citizens.

He congratulated the NDC leadership, including its National Chairman, members of the National Working Committee, and party supporters, for their efforts to strengthen democratic governance and political participation.

“We came to pay a courtesy visit to Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, the National Leader of the NDC, first to congratulate him as a son of the Niger Delta for having the courage to establish a national movement and also to discuss the activities of the party,” Igali said.

According to PANDEF, the NDC’s emergence reflects increasing political engagement among Nigerians seeking alternative platforms and broader participation in national affairs.

The forum stressed that its consultations with political stakeholders are aimed at ensuring that the interests of the Niger Delta are represented while also contributing to discussions on national development and unity.

Observers note that the NDC has attracted growing attention in recent months as political parties and groups begin positioning themselves ahead of future electoral contests. The party’s leadership has consistently promoted its vision of national development, democratic inclusion, and political reform.

The meeting between PANDEF and the NDC leadership also highlighted the role of regional organizations in fostering dialogue with political institutions on issues affecting governance and socioeconomic development.

Other members of the PANDEF delegation who attended the visit included Deputy National Chairman, Hon. Bassey Nyong Ekefre, and National Treasurer, Mrs. Ifeoma Onyeoma Agbomah.

PANDEF said it would continue engaging with political parties and leaders across the country as part of its efforts to advocate for the Niger Delta, promote national unity, and contribute to policies that support peace, stability, and economic growth.

The visit underscores the growing interaction between regional interest groups and political organizations as stakeholders seek collaborative approaches to addressing Nigeria’s political and developmental challenges.
