ABUJA — The Niger Delta Alliance Forum has formally endorsed Ambassador Charles Omini as its National President, with a mandate to promote unity, economic growth, and the socio-political development of the Niger Delta region.
Speaking in Abuja shortly after his endorsement, Amb. Omini called on the people of the Niger Delta to unite and work collectively towards improving the economic and social well-being of the region.
He said his leadership would prioritise unity, economic growth, and capacity building to create opportunities for the people and advance sustainable development.
Omini also called on host communities to hold their leaders accountable and ensure that development initiatives translate into tangible benefits for residents of the oil-producing areas.
He further stressed the need for greater accountability and constructive engagement with international oil companies operating in the Niger Delta, noting that the region’s development requires the collective efforts of governments, community leaders, host communities, and corporate stakeholders.
According to him, the task of repositioning the Niger Delta for sustainable growth cannot be left to one individual or institution but requires a shared commitment from all stakeholders.
The new National President reaffirmed his commitment to promoting cooperation and building a stronger platform for addressing the economic, social, and political challenges confronting the region.
He maintained that unity, accountability, and collective action would be essential to achieving meaningful development across the Niger Delta.
“We must rise collectively to develop the Niger Delta region,” Omini said, emphasising the importance of a united approach to securing a better future for the people.
