40 Days After Wedding, Bauchi Bride Arrested Over Alleged Poisoning of Husband

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old woman, Aisha Musa, over an alleged attempt to poison her husband in Gwamma Village, Bauchi Local Government Area.

According to the police, the incident occurred on August 12, 2026, about 40 days after the couple got married. The suspect allegedly mixed a poisonous substance into her husband’s meal.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, said officers responded to a distress call at about 7:40 p.m. and rushed the victim to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where he is receiving treatment and is reportedly in stable condition.

Police said the suspect was arrested shortly after the incident and allegedly confessed during questioning. Investigators reportedly recovered an empty bottle suspected to have contained the substance and remnants of the meal as exhibits.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered the case to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

The police said the suspect will be charged to court after the investigation is completed and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security authorities.
