The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Southern Ijaw Constituency IV, Mr. Pere Alfred, has reassured party members and supporters that the recent Federal High Court ruling will not derail the party’s resolve or its preparations for the 2027 general elections.
In an official statement issued on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, Pere Alfred urged supporters across Southern Ijaw and Bayelsa State to remain calm, peaceful, and law-abiding, describing the court decision of Friday, June 26, 2026, as part of the democratic process that would be addressed through the appropriate legal channels.
He maintained that the Nigeria Democratic Congress remains a legally recognized political party and that its political activities and grassroots mobilization continue uninterrupted.
“The NDC is a disciplined and lawful movement. Unity remains our greatest strength, and we will not be drawn into provocation or unnecessary tension. There is no cause for alarm. Our national leadership has directed our legal team to seek redress through the appropriate judicial process, and we are confident that justice will prevail,” Pere Alfred stated.
The House of Assembly hopeful emphasized that the party’s vision for the 2027 elections remains firmly on course despite the ongoing legal challenge.
According to him, neither he nor any of the party’s candidates has been discouraged by the interim ruling, insisting that the NDC remains focused on expanding its grassroots support and offering credible leadership to the people of Bayelsa State.
Pere Alfred also directed Ward, Unit, and Community Leaders to sustain peaceful mobilization while avoiding actions capable of escalating political tension.
“Our mission for 2027 remains clear and intact. Let peace reign across our communities and waterways. Our success lies in stability, discipline, and constructive engagement—not conflict or unrest,” he said.
Calling for restraint among party faithful, the Southern Ijaw Constituency IV candidate urged supporters not to allow political opponents to exploit the situation, assuring them that the party has full confidence in Nigeria’s judicial process.
He expressed gratitude to supporters for their steadfast loyalty, prayers, and unwavering commitment to the NDC, urging them to remain united as the party pursues legal redress.
“We place our trust in God and in the rule of law. We remain confident that justice will prevail, and together we shall continue building a stronger NDC ahead of the 2027 general elections,” he concluded.
The statement comes amid ongoing legal proceedings involving the NDC, with the party’s leadership maintaining that all issues arising from the court ruling will be resolved through constitutional and judicial means while political activities continue across the country.
