Two Nigerian men, Adebola Festus Adekunle and Mudasiru Afeez Olawale, have been extradited to the United States to face federal charges over alleged financially motivated sextortion schemes targeting teenage boys.
The suspects, who were arrested in Nigeria in 2023, were handed over to US authorities on Wednesday, August 26, by the EFCC Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, following separate investigations by the FBI.
FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that the suspects are now in US custody, saying they had been overseas for three years and would now face the charges against them.
US and Nigerian authorities said the cases involved male minors aged between 13 and 17. Two American teenagers allegedly died by suicide after being subjected to online sexual exploitation and extortion.
The suspects are expected to face federal prosecution in the United States.
