Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has apologised to Nigerians for supporting the party’s victory in the 2023 presidential election, saying the country is now bearing the consequences of that decision.

Oyegun’s reported remarks come amid ongoing public debate over President Bola Tinubu’s administration, particularly its economic policies and their impact on the living conditions of Nigerians.

Tinubu, the APC candidate, won the February 2023 presidential election and assumed office on May 29, 2023.

Oyegun’s reported expression of regret over his support for the party’s victory has added to discussions about the administration’s performance and the political choices made during the last general election.

With the 2027 general elections approaching, disagreements over governance, economic reforms and national development are expected to remain key issues in Nigeria’s political discourse.
