Hon. (Amb.) Akpofini Charles Odogu PhD has called on the people of Bayelsa State to come out en masse to welcome President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is scheduled to visit the state on April 10 to commission completed infrastructure projects.

Odogu made the appeal while emphasizing the importance of the President’s visit, noting that it marks a significant milestone in the state’s development journey. He said the projects, now completed, reflect the commitment of the Bayelsa State Government to improving infrastructure and living standards.

He commended Governor Douye Diri for his dedication to the development of the state, describing his leadership as purposeful and impactful. According to Odogu, the governor’s efforts have led to the successful delivery of key projects that address critical needs in the state.

Among the completed projects to be commissioned is the 60-megawatt gas turbine power plant. Odogu described the project as a major breakthrough that is expected to end the persistent electricity challenges faced by residents.

He said the power project will provide more stable electricity, boost economic activities, and improve overall productivity across the state. He added that it represents a bold step toward energy independence for Bayelsa.

Odogu also highlighted the completed 630-meter Angiama-Oporoma Bridge, noting that it will significantly improve connectivity for riverine communities. He explained that the bridge will ease transportation and enhance access to economic opportunities in previously hard-to-reach areas.

In addition, he pointed to the 2.9-kilometer Yenagoa New Layout/LNG dual carriageway as another key project ready for commissioning. He said the road will improve traffic flow within the state capital and support urban expansion.

He stated that the completion of these projects demonstrates that Bayelsa is making steady progress under the Prosperity Government led by Governor Douye Diri. He added that the administration’s focus on infrastructure is already yielding tangible benefits for residents.

Odogu urged the people of Bayelsa to continue supporting the current administration, stressing that sustained cooperation will help maintain the pace of development, especially as the state looks ahead to the 2027 general elections.

He also reiterated the need for a large turnout to welcome President Tinubu, noting that such a reception would showcase the unity and hospitality of the people of Bayelsa while strengthening the relationship between the state and the federal government.

Odogu expressed confidence that the commissioning of the projects will mark the beginning of even greater developmental strides in the state.
