A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of self-acclaimed retired Major General Garba Gololo at the Kuje Correctional Centre over alleged cyberstalking, defamation and incitement involving Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia issued the order after Gololo pleaded not guilty to a seven-count charge filed by the Inspector-General of Police.

The charges stem from a viral video and Facebook posts allegedly linked to Gololo, in which he reportedly claimed that Akpabio said northerners must support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election or risk expulsion from Nigeria.

Following his plea, the court adjourned the case until June 15 for the hearing of his bail application and directed that he remain in custody pending the proceedings.

Gololo was represented by his lawyer, Mohammed Habu.

The office of the Senate President had earlier denied the claims attributed to Akpabio, describing them as false and malicious.
