Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, has stated that electricity supply across Nigeria has improved under the administration of President Bola Tinubu. He made the claim while addressing ongoing public concerns about power shortages and the performance of the country’s energy sector.
Bwala said the Tinubu administration has taken deliberate steps to stabilize and enhance electricity generation and distribution since assuming office. According to him, these efforts are beginning to yield measurable results, with more consistent power supply reported in several parts of the country.
He explained that reforms introduced by the government are aimed at addressing long-standing structural issues in the power sector. These include challenges related to generation capacity, transmission infrastructure, and distribution inefficiencies, which have historically limited the availability of electricity nationwide.
The presidential aide emphasized that improving electricity supply remains a key priority for the administration, given its importance to economic growth and national development. He noted that stable power is essential for businesses, industries, and households, and is critical to reducing operational costs and improving living standards.
Bwala also pointed to ongoing investments in infrastructure as part of the government’s broader strategy to strengthen the power sector. He said upgrades to transmission lines and distribution networks are helping to reduce system losses and improve the reliability of electricity delivery.
While acknowledging that challenges persist, Bwala maintained that the situation has improved compared to previous years. He urged Nigerians to remain patient, noting that reforms in the power sector often take time to produce full results due to their complexity and scale.
The adviser further highlighted the role of policy coordination in achieving the reported progress. He said the administration has been working closely with relevant agencies and stakeholders to ensure that reforms are effectively implemented and sustained.
Bwala’s remarks come amid ongoing debates about the state of electricity supply in Nigeria, where many citizens and businesses continue to rely on alternative power sources such as generators. Despite these concerns, the government has consistently expressed confidence in its approach to addressing the sector’s challenges.
He reiterated that the Tinubu administration is committed to delivering long-term improvements in electricity supply and ensuring that Nigerians experience more stable and reliable power. According to him, continued investment, policy reforms, and stakeholder collaboration will be crucial to achieving these goals.
The statement reflects the government’s broader narrative that progress is being made in key sectors despite existing challenges. However, public reactions remain mixed, with some Nigerians acknowledging slight improvements while others say significant issues with power supply still persist in many areas.
