The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has praised the Nigerian judiciary for upholding justice and restoring confidence in democratic institutions, following a legal victory celebrated during a special thanksgiving service held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Sunday.

The youth body also dedicated its victory to God, describing the outcome as a triumph of justice, faith, and perseverance rather than the success of any individual or group.

Speaking at the thanksgiving service, the Deputy President of the NYCN, Amb. Innocent Nduanya, said the judiciary had once again demonstrated its role as the last hope of the common man through its commitment to fairness, professionalism, and the rule of law.

According to him, the Council’s victory reaffirmed the importance of strong institutions in safeguarding democracy and protecting the interests of Nigerian youths.

“The judiciary has restored hope and strengthened public confidence in the justice system. We commend the courage and integrity displayed in ensuring that justice prevailed,” Nduanya stated.

The service drew members of the National Executive Council, state chairmen, affiliate organisations, youth leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, development partners, and other stakeholders from across the country.

The NYCN leadership expressed appreciation to Nigerians for their support throughout the period of uncertainty, noting that the solidarity shown by citizens reflected a collective commitment to justice and due process.

Special recognition was also given to the Council’s diaspora chapters, civil society groups, community leaders, donor agencies, humanitarian organisations, diplomatic missions, security agencies, and media practitioners for standing with the organisation during the challenging period.

The Council said the victory signals the beginning of a new chapter focused on youth empowerment, leadership development, entrepreneurship, innovation, peacebuilding, and national development.

It further called on governments at all levels, development partners, and private sector organisations to deepen collaboration with the NYCN to expand opportunities for young Nigerians and strengthen youth participation in governance.

Reaffirming its commitment to unity and inclusive leadership, the Council urged youth leaders nationwide to embrace reconciliation and work collectively toward building a stronger and more credible youth movement.

The NYCN maintained that the outcome represents a victory for justice, democracy, accountability, and every Nigerian youth who believes in the rule of law.
