Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Toru-Orua community have raised concerns over alleged threats against their members, calling on security agencies to ensure their safety.

In a jointly signed statement, the leaders alleged that some individuals have been warning party supporters to withdraw from APC activities or face consequences. They cited an incident on April 24, 2026, involving Mr. Eric Ogoezi, who was reportedly threatened.

The leaders described the development as an attempt to intimidate members and suppress political participation, stressing that Section 40 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) guarantees the right to freedom of association. It states that every person is entitled to assemble freely and associate with others, including forming or belonging to political parties, trade unions, or other associations for the protection of their interests and which they said Ogoezi has not violated.

They reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful political engagement and urged the police, Department of State Services (DSS), and other authorities to investigate the matter and provide protection.

The statement was signed by Dr. Mrs. (Dcn) Peremoboere Stella Ugolo, Ekpolaem Ken I. Odogu, Selekekeme Celestin Koroye, Hon. (Amb.) Akpofini C. E. Odogu, Hopkins Godspower Dickson, Hon. Prince Douye Koroye, Dr. Akposeimokumo Tounaregha, and Prince Zikama Isaac Koroye.
