Hon. Lucky Okodeh has joined forces with Barrister Seyi Tinubu to strengthen grassroots political mobilisation and youth participation in Bayelsa State, in a move observers describe as a significant step toward expanding youth influence in regional politics.
The collaboration also involves the Bayelsa State City Boy Coordinator, Chief Barrister Blankson Edwin Osomkime, and is aimed at reinforcing political structures and encouraging wider engagement among young people. The initiative was highlighted during a recent meeting held in Benin City, where key stakeholders gathered to discuss strategies for growth and inclusion.
Okodeh, a former Caretaker Chairman of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, is widely recognized for his grassroots influence. Known by the nickname “Dubai Money,” he has built a reputation as a mobiliser with strong ties across communities in Bayelsa.
At the gathering, discussions focused on strengthening party unity and expanding youth-centered programmes. Participants also explored ways to build sustainable political structures that can increase participation at the local level.
Speaking during the engagement, Okodeh stressed the importance of unity within political ranks. He said that active involvement from young people is essential for long-term political stability and development in the state.
He also praised Seyi Tinubu for his continued advocacy for youth empowerment, noting that such efforts are critical to ensuring that younger generations play a meaningful role in governance and decision-making processes.
In his remarks, Seyi Tinubu reiterated his commitment to fostering a network of progressive-minded youths across Nigeria. He described Bayelsa as a state with strong potential to influence national political dynamics if its young population is effectively mobilised.
Tinubu encouraged supporters aligned with Okodeh to remain disciplined and focused. He emphasized the need for organization and long-term planning in order to achieve meaningful political and developmental outcomes.
Chief Osomkime also spoke about ongoing initiatives under the City Boy Movement in Bayelsa. He noted that efforts are already underway to expand the group’s reach at the grassroots level, with a focus on identifying and nurturing young leaders.
According to him, the collaboration with Okodeh and Tinubu is expected to energize supporters and create more opportunities for youth involvement in leadership and governance.
Political analysts say the alliance reflects a broader shift toward youth-driven political engagement in the Niger Delta. They note that such initiatives are increasingly shaping the political landscape by promoting inclusivity and encouraging new voices to participate in the democratic process.
Observers also point out that grassroots mobilisation remains a key factor in determining political success in the region. By focusing on community-level engagement, leaders can build stronger support networks and foster a sense of ownership among constituents.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from all parties to sustain collaboration and deepen outreach efforts across Bayelsa communities. Stakeholders agreed on the need to maintain momentum and continue building structures that will support long-term political participation.
The partnership between Okodeh and Tinubu is expected to play a role in influencing future political activities in the state, particularly as youth engagement becomes an increasingly important factor in Nigeria’s evolving democratic landscape.
Reporting indicates that further engagements and expansion efforts are likely in the coming months as the group works to consolidate its presence across the state.
