The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Yenagoa Branch, led by its Chairman, Engr. Eluanatein Mac Jokori, paid a technical visit to the Azikel Refinery in Obunagha, Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, as part of its commitment to promoting professional development and strengthening collaboration between engineering practitioners and industry.
The technical tour provided members of the Society with firsthand insight into the refinery’s facilities, ongoing installation works, and the innovative technologies being deployed in one of Nigeria’s foremost privately owned refining projects.
The delegation was received by the President of Azikel Group, Dr. Azibapu Godbless Eruani, CFR, who personally led the engineers on a guided tour of the refinery. He showcased the various operational units, explained the installation processes currently underway, and highlighted the remarkable progress recorded on the project.
Addressing the visiting engineers, Dr. Eruani underscored the importance of engineering innovation, indigenous expertise, and private sector investment in accelerating Nigeria’s industrialisation and economic growth. He encouraged engineering professionals to remain committed to excellence, innovation, and the delivery of sustainable infrastructure that will drive national development.
A major highlight of the visit was the presentation of an Award of Appreciation to Dr. Azibapu Godbless Eruani, CFR, by the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Yenagoa Branch. The award was presented in recognition of his outstanding contributions to engineering, industrial development, and his unwavering support for the growth and advancement of the engineering profession in Nigeria.
The visit further reinforced the partnership between the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the industrial sector while providing members with valuable practical exposure to refinery operations, modern engineering processes, and the vital role of indigenous capacity in Nigeria’s industrial transformation.
